Prathida and John this morning lovely companion...

I took this pictures this morning as John and Prathida was talking to each other as John and his elephant his very close relationship since Prathida was born as John used to take care of Prathida's mother... when you are at the camp you will exactly see how they behave to each other and Prathida loves the way of John treat her..

Prathida is very happy elephant at the camp she always keep flapping her hears and moving the tails which is common characteristic of healthy and happy elephant that we can notice.

Every morning when we walk into the forest to collect the elephants with the tourists, Prathida she always stand that way and wait for John to give her first banana and bring her back to the camp..

Once Prathida broke her chain on her leg and she walked back to the camp by herself, it 's really surprised that she knew the way back to the camp. I think there are so many tourists who had been to the camp know about John and Prathida..

Jojo and school trip at the camp on 18 of June...

Just posted some photo that I took it as the students from one of school from Lampang town brought their naughty students to visit the elephants. They were really scared of elephants when they first touch them. Some of students just stayed behind and pushed their friend to the elephants..

I think the chance of many Thai people to see or touch the elephants are very minimal, as the number of them are decreasing seriously.. The first elephants I saw was only three elephant who work in Logging activities that is when I was about 7 years old now I am 30 years old. Those elephants were died and then I saw them again when I was working as the tour guide in Chiang Mai.. It 's pretty sad that there are a lot of Thais do not have a chance to see real elephants, those people see elephants on TV when they publish the news of elephants who were injured by human or elephants who were brought into big City. I wish this website can bring a lot of awareness on elephants..

Sincere thanks,
Supat and elephants..

This morning I was surprised by Prathida as she was trying to help her tourist not to fall off her head as that tourist was dismounting on Prathida 's head.. but that tourists did not jump as high as she can. So she was stuck on Prathida's trunk.

Suddenly Prathida she was trying to lift her head to help that tourist not to fall off and she still held on so that tourists can climb on Prathida's head.. Vow It's really amazing how that elephant realize about the human can get injury from falling off.

I realized that the longer I stay at Thai Elephant Conservation Center is the more I love Prathida and this place. I think many people also realize about this lovely elephant like Helen Bunn who come along from England, Nola from Australia and Nicole from Macay Australia.. This lovely tourists always keep coming for this elephant...
Seven lovely baby elephant...

Today I had opportunity to visit Seven and his mother at the stable closed to the elephant hospital with our tourists who join our three day mahout training course during 13-15 of June.. we have 8 tourists from America.

It was quite heavy rain while we were feeding Seven, and seems Seven love to play in the rain so much...

Seven was born in Chiang Mai on 7 of July 2007 that why he was named " Seven" he came to the elephant hospital as his mother did not have enough milk for him as the new born baby elephant has to drink milk from their mother within 8-12 hours. Since he has been staying at the camp with very cared of the mahout and the vet. Seven becomes healthy and cheerful as the first time he came to the hospital he was very very skinny.

Now Seven is different than the past as he is bigger and stronger..

Happy birthday Nau Oon today 4 years old..

Just quick post to say happy bithday of our lovely elephant " Nau Oon" who just turned completely 4 years old today. Nau Oon was born on 12 of June 2004 by her greatest mother " Sing Khon" I remember that I went to the forest to pick up this baby elephants with Berm the mahout of Singha Khon around 06:30 Am. as Singha Khon she gave birth of her second baby in the forest by herself. Singha Khon she had nursed and took care of her baby without any body' s help that why I call her greatest mother. It's said that good elephant will give birth of the baby elephant every 5 years as pregnancy of elephant lasts about 2 years or 22 months and nursing takes about 3 years.

In the same morning we brought baby elephant and her mother to the camp site so the vet can check the baby health and we could provide them good medical cares. I remenber that I just walk behind of them to the camp with very sleepy hairs as I just slept very well at that morning as the rain kept drizzling..

Nau Oon when she is first born, she looked very cute and tiny and then after one month later she could run and play around her mother.. I just want to turn back time so that I could capture that moment..

You are very welcome to add some sentences of happy birthday to Nau Oon..

Just added one pictures of Prachaub's eye to in touch with some tourists who have been visiting the camp as Prachaub's fan.

Prachaub was donated with Sing Khon her closest friend from the Prachaub Kiri Khan that why her name " Prachuab" as in the past the people they usually named their elephant after the place they came from. On the picture you might see a little tear around her eye is not from crying as this season all elephant usually put the mud or dust on their body to repel the insects so they can get slight eye irritation.

( Elephant 's Pregnancy last 2 years and nursing takes properly 3 years) and now she is pregnant as told by the mahout)

Sri Siam ( means Great Thailand) was born by his mother (Boon Mee) at Phrae Province down south of Lampang. There is very kind people raised the money and bought this elephants mother and baby and donated to the camp. Currently this 2 elephants are staying and working at Thai Elephant Conservation Center..

On this picture I took it yesterday as the mahout of this two elephants to cross the tusk to each other so this two elephants can be or work together in the future. Some elephant can not get a long with other elephants if we do not train them like this, so now Kaew and Sri Siam are very good friends. Kaew is 9 years old and Sri Siam is 6 years old..
