December 2007 Archives

I am very happy to post this family photo of Kerri and Micheal who joined our specially arranged six day mahout training course at Thai Elephant Conservation Center during 25-30 of December.. They have  the best time with elephants and mahouts here as what they said to me..

Kerri and Micheal had booked the mahout training course for over one year before and every day they keep watching the website to see what happen like many people and then they are very excited to meet the elephant.. Especially they children " Alias and Sebastian" really happy with their elephant.. Alias is only 7 years old and Sebastian is only 11 years old.. their elephant is Srisiam and Wanna.. and Kaew is elephant of Kerri and Prachaub is elephant of Micheal.

Kerri keeps crying almost every day, because she has very good time with the elephants here and they do not want to leave their elephant...They are very lovely family and also they promise that they will back again next year.

In this picture I took it as DD she is kissing her beloved boy " Jojo" DD she sent me a lot of emails and one of that email is to request Jojo as her elephant for three day mahout training course so I just arrange her my boy.

When she first met Jojo she said " Vow he is very big elephant" and she said to one of our tourist that she could not get on or off this elephant for three day and then we put them together and finally they are very compatible and well-get along.

And the last day I heard that DD said to Jojo " This is my boy and son" This word really makes me happy, because DD said on the first day that Jojo is very big and huge and the last day Jojo became like baby elephant..

I really wish if you are visiting this website will be back some day.

So I am very happy that they really love the elephant and all girl are very excited to meet the elephant as they are still in Jet lag...In this video is to show that Ally is cleaning the dungs of her elephant " Kaew"  I wish that there will be a lot of family in the training course in the future.

This is another opportunity to update the picture of Prachaub and her tourist in the three day mahout training course... As far as I know River Kwai became well known especially to the international tourists after the movie 'Bridge Over the River Kwai' referring to the WWII when the Japanese forced all prisoners of Wars (POWs) to build the bridge. Bridge over the River Kwai is an academy award winning movie in 1957 based on the novel Le Pont de la Rivi?re Kwa? by French writer Pierre Boulle . Many people watched the movie or read novel then inspired them to come and experience the bridge and pay tribute to those people who contributed in building this bridge. Not only that, it is also a good opportunity to remind human of our inhuman mistake. For some people, they just come to the bridge following other tourists and just don't pay much attention to it but they sured developed some sad impression and felt sorry for those who are gone during the war. All in all those who came to the bridge at least learned something out of this steel structure spanning over the calm and beautiful river.

I came to witness this bridge several times after several years of working as a tour leader. My job is to entertain people to understand and learn to understand our past inhumane mistakes before we could move on. I am not trying to blame and divide people into two extreme bad-good sides because of their conflict of interest. I am just looking at how we can reach peace in a peaceful manner instead of using violence to attain peace. The world does not seem to understand this fact…"hate breeds hates. As a tourist I need to make tourists see and trying to honor those whose lives are forced to involve with this affair.

Seven is the unofficial name of this baby elephant who came from Chiang Mai to the Elephant Hospital, because his mother did not have enough milk for him, so he was brought to the Elephant Hospital for the vet  and the mahout to look after him.

This baby elephant was born on 7 of July 2007 that why his name is seven that many people called that baby elephant's name. Now he is very healthy, because we feed him with the infant formula every day. At the first arrival at the Elephant Hospital, he was very skinny, because he had not enough milk from his mother which normally the new born baby elephant has to drink milk from their own mother within 8-12 hours otherwise the baby elephant become very week.

This baby elephant has very interested story, I hope you will love the video of him.

Good luck.. Seven.

Today morning the mother elephant and her baby were taken to bath by their mahout, as we are riding the elephant at the show. They were bathing in the other side of the reservoir. The baby elephant he is very playful, but the mother is afraid of cold water in the morning..

This couple were brought to the elephant hospital, because the mother did not have enough milk for her baby. So the owner of this elephant brought this elephant to the elephant hospital for the vet to take care of them.  The baby elephant was born in July 07 2007, so he has very lucky number is 7.

A couple day ago when I went to the forest to collect the elephants with the Australian tourists, we met the mahout of Sri dor was taking his elephant for first bath.. It's pretty cold morning so the mahout just command his elephant to dive into the pool by himself.. the pictures shown in this site is for the tourists who miss the fattest and piggiest elephant in the camp "Sri Dor Yai" his name means " Mr. Big" and he deserves this name..
